Spin the Wheel
Let chance decide. Load the wheel with rewards and forfeits, then spin to see what comes up. It's a playful way to break decision paralysis, add stakes to a game, or bring a little surprise into your routine.
Finding the Wheel
Go to the Workshop tab and tap Spin the Wheel under Practice and grow. You can also find it by searching for "Spin the wheel" on the Explore tab.
The wheel lives on your phone. Your partner builds their own.
Setting Up Your Wheel
The first time you open it, the app walks you through four steps: pick, tune, stakes, spin.
1. Start Your Wheel
Choose a starter wheel or build your own:
- Playful starter - Mild ideas
- Getting bolder - Spicier ideas
- No holding back - The most intense ideas
- Build your own - Start from an empty wheel
2. Your Wheel
Add, edit, or remove ideas. Each idea is a reward or a forfeit; the toggle reads Reward / Punishment. When you edit an idea you can change its text, its type, and its intensity (mild, spicy, or intense). Clear wheel removes everything.
You need at least 4 ideas to spin.
3. Set the Stakes
Choose what the wheel can land on: Rewards only, Mix both, or Punishments only. You can switch between rewards, forfeits, or both on the wheel screen too. A side is unavailable while it has no ideas.
4. Spin
Tap spin and wait for the wheel to stop.
When the Wheel Stops
A result sheet shows the idea the wheel landed on. From there you can tap Spin again or Edit this wheel.
Each idea on the wheel has an equal chance on every spin, and earlier spins don't affect later ones.
Free vs. Premium
- Free: A free wheel holds up to 7 forfeits and 7 rewards. If you are at the limit, tapping Add offers Premium instead. Everything already on your wheel stays where it is.
- Premium: Add as many rewards and forfeits as you want.
Common Questions
Q: Is the wheel truly random?
A: Yes. Each spin is random, with an equal chance for every idea on the side you chose.
Q: Can I weight certain ideas to appear more often?
A: Not directly. All ideas have an equal chance. You could add an idea twice to make it more likely.
Q: Can my partner and I share a wheel?
A: No. Each of you builds your own wheel on your own phone.
Q: Is there a spin history?
A: No. The app does not show past spins.
Q: Does the wheel earn or spend points?
A: No. The wheel is separate from the points and rewards in Habits.
Q: What if I don't want to do what it lands on?
A: The wheel is for fun! You can always spin again, talk it over, or use the result as a starting point for a conversation.
Troubleshooting
Wheel Won't Spin
- Check that you have at least 4 ideas
- Check that the side you chose (rewards or forfeits) has ideas on it
- Close and reopen the screen
- Restart the app
Can't Add More Ideas
A free wheel holds up to 7 forfeits and 7 rewards. Remove an idea to make room, or upgrade to Premium.
