ChastityCages.co (Lockd) review: my first two days in a steel chastity cage

At first I found steel a lot more intimidating than plastic. The metal ring was my main concern. Would my balls even go through it? And if they did, would it come off again? I kept coming back to that second one. What if I couldn't get the thing off?

Cage size and ring size are separate choices. Both cages have the same 34 mm internal diameter, so choosing the Long adds length and nothing else.

The 40 mm ring would not go on at all. The Short cage was too short for me. That left the Long cage with the 50 mm ring, and that is the combination I wore for every trial in this review, the two days included.

The fitting that finally went smoothly was in the shower, after I turned the water to cold. It compressed the balls and I was able to get the 50 mm ring on easily. It stayed fine once I'd warmed up again. No marks, no tightness. Getting it right was a relief. I'd been so nervous about it that I was slightly embarrassed.

I noticed the weight straight away. It isn't enormous. I noticed it when I picked the cage up and again when I first stood with it on.

It felt cold at first and warmed up fairly quickly against my skin. After that, what I kept noticing was how firm it was. When I changed position, the cage didn't change shape with me. I could feel where the ring sat and how the weight shifted against my underwear.

The lock is built in. There was no padlock dangling from the front, and there were fewer loose pieces to think about once it was assembled. Before wearing it for longer, I practised using the lock with the cage off.

I also looked closely at the ring and the places where the cage and the ring met. It was smooth all over. I found no burrs or sharp edges.

The lock has a little play between the cage and the ring when it is locked. That turned out to be cosmetic. Nothing came apart.

I started with five minutes. Then twenty, then an hour, then half a day.

Five minutes was mainly about reassurance. Twenty minutes gave me a chance to stop thinking only about the cage. An hour showed me how it felt when I was distracted by something else. Half a day brought clothes and bathroom trips into the picture.

By then, I could tell the difference between being aware of the cage and being bothered by it. At first, almost every sensation had seemed to matter because it was unfamiliar. Later, I could recognise the ordinary feeling of the metal moving slightly with a change of position without assuming straight away that something was wrong.

It never disappeared completely. I'd forget about it while I was busy, then stand up or adjust my clothes and there it was again. Day to day, nothing much was affected. I walked and drove as usual.

The two days were harder on my head than any of the shorter trials. I enjoyed the novelty for a while, then it felt quite ordinary, and at points I was just tired of thinking about it. The first night was restless because I kept noticing the weight and how I was lying.

Erections, including the ones overnight, meant pressure, not pain. It passed on its own each time.

The two days were not unbroken. Once a day the cage came off so I could clean it and check my skin. Then it went back on. My partner was my keyholder. I could still have got to a key easily if I'd wanted. Knowing I could stop was part of what made me comfortable continuing.

We already enjoyed a consensual female-led dynamic during scenes.

In scenes, both of us were focused on the same thing. Over a full day it was different. I'd be thinking about the cage while my partner was answering messages or making food.

I sometimes wanted more acknowledgement than they realised.

I became more attentive and more eager for their attention as the trial continued. They enjoyed being the focus, and I enjoyed making room for their preferences. I also became more restless. I was more invested in their reactions and a little more sensitive when those reactions didn't match what I had imagined.

I'd expected the challenge to be almost entirely physical. I found out how many expectations I could create without actually saying them out loud.

I was surprised by how much reassurance and ordinary conversation helped me settle into it.

I sat down to pee from the start and never tried standing. Afterwards I checked I was clean and dry before I got dressed.

It adds a step to every bathroom trip.

Cleaning the metal was easy. Standing under the shower didn't count. Each time, the cage came off and I washed properly. I cleaned the cage on its own and dried everything before it went back on.

Those skin checks never found anything. After two days there were no marks and no redness, and nothing had pinched or chafed anywhere.

I did far more checking before my first outing than it needed.

I was most worried about noise. Handling the metal made every little click seem noticeable, and I thought about how embarrassing it would be if that happened in a quiet public place.

The integrated lock helped here. There wasn't a hanging padlock moving independently against the cage. That was one less thing I had been imagining would rattle.

Before going out, I walked around at home in the clothes I planned to wear and asked my partner whether they could hear anything. They couldn't. I checked the outline too. Under that outfit, there wasn't anything obvious.

Once outside, at first I was more aware of my own movement than anyone else appeared to be. I kept wondering whether I was walking differently because I was trying so hard to walk normally.

Nothing happened. No one appeared to notice and I heard nothing.

Steel wins on cleaning and on smell. It felt more secure and I prefer the look and the feel of it. There is no padlock. It felt much more real.

Plastic wins on getting it on and off, and on worry. A plastic ring can be cut off at home and a closed steel ring cannot, so a steel ring that will not come off is a matter for an emergency department. That is the worst case I was picturing before I started, and it is why I still worry less in plastic.

The sizing is where a buyer's experience will differ from mine. I found a combination that worked only because I had two rings to try. If the 40 mm had been my only ring, it could easily have put me off metal cages altogether.

A buyer gets one ring, in the size they choose, and the Lockd FAQ says: "No, due to the nature of our products we do not accept returns or exchanges." A damaged or defective item is replaced, but a ring that doesn't fit is neither of those.

What I'd change is what's in the box. Put more than one ring in it.
