Training Period Contract Contract

A time-limited mentorship agreement for structured BDSM training with clear goals and milestones.

A BDSM training contract is fundamentally different from other power exchange agreements because it is time-limited by design. This template establishes a structured mentor/trainee relationship with a clear start date, defined curriculum phases, evaluation criteria, and graduation conditions. The Trainer's role is educational, developing the Trainee's skills, confidence, and self-knowledge, rather than establishing ongoing ownership or control.

The contract includes a phased curriculum framework that progresses from foundational skills through intermediate techniques to advanced practice, with milestone assessments at each stage. It distinguishes clearly between a mentor (who teaches from experience and then releases the Trainee) and an owner or Dominant (who maintains an ongoing authority dynamic), which is an important boundary that protects both parties.

Whether the training covers rope bondage, protocol, impact play, dominance skills, or submission techniques, this training contract template provides the scaffolding for a focused, ethical learning arrangement. It is built for the BDSM community's tradition of skill-sharing and mentorship, with graduation conditions that give the Trainee a clear sense of achievement when the training period concludes.

Contract

Training Agreement

Between ________ (Trainer) and ________ (trainee)

This contract is a personal agreement built on trust. It is not legally binding. Either party may withdraw consent at any time.

1.Purpose & Preamble

This Training Agreement establishes a structured, time-limited mentorship in which an experienced Trainer guides a trainee through the foundational, intermediate, and advanced skills of submission and service. This is an educational relationship first and foremost. While authority is exchanged to facilitate realistic training, the purpose is skill development, self-discovery, and preparation for the trainee's future dynamic, whatever form it may take. The Trainer commits to teaching with patience, integrity, and rigour. The trainee commits to learning with humility, effort, and honest self-reflection. Both parties understand that this contract has a defined end date and that the relationship, while meaningful, is not inherently romantic or sexual in nature unless separately and explicitly negotiated.

2.Roles & Responsibilities

Trainer's responsibilities

  • Design and deliver a structured curriculum covering all agreed training domains.
  • Assess the trainee's progress fairly using the defined evaluation criteria.
  • Provide clear, specific, and constructive feedback after every training session.
  • Pace the training to the trainee's genuine readiness, not an arbitrary calendar.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries: the Trainer's role is to teach, not to own.
  • Prepare the trainee for independence, not dependence on the Trainer.
  • Remain available during the post-training advisory period for guidance and questions.
  • Respect the non-sexual, non-romantic boundary clause absolutely unless a separate agreement is negotiated.

trainee's responsibilities

  • Attend all scheduled training sessions prepared, punctual, and ready to learn.
  • Complete all homework, practice exercises, and journaling assignments by the stated deadline.
  • Accept feedback and correction as tools for growth, not as personal criticism.
  • Ask questions when confused. Silence is not obedience, it is a missed learning opportunity.
  • Maintain the daily training journal with honest, reflective entries.
  • Practise assigned skills independently between sessions.
  • Communicate openly about pace, comfort level, and any emerging concerns.
  • Respect the Trainer's boundaries as firmly as the Trainer respects hers.

3.Duration & Review

Duration

3 months (12 weeks)

Review schedule

Weekly progress check; formal phase transition reviews at Weeks 4 and 8; final evaluation at Week 12

4.Limits & Boundaries

Hard limits

All hard limits have been negotiated and documented. Training activities will never enter hard-limit territory. The Trainer will not "test" limits as a training exercise without explicit advance consent.

Soft limits

Soft limits may be relevant to training (e.g., a position that causes anxiety, a protocol that feels challenging). The Trainer introduces soft-limit activities gradually, with full discussion and the trainee's in-the-moment consent. No surprises.

Health disclosures

The trainee has disclosed all physical conditions (joint issues, flexibility limitations, chronic pain), mental-health history, and trauma-relevant information. The Trainer has adapted the curriculum accordingly.

5.Safewords & Signals

Verbal

Red / Yellow / Green traffic light system

Non-verbal

Dropping a held object (keys or ball) signals full stop

Notes

Safewords are honoured immediately. In a training context, using a safeword is explicitly framed as good judgement, not failure. The Trainer debriefs every safeword use to understand the trigger and adjust training accordingly.

6.Rules & Protocols

  1. 1.Attend all scheduled training sessions. Cancellations require 24 hours' notice with a rescheduled date proposed.
  2. 2.Arrive at each session in the agreed training attire, having completed all assigned preparation.
  3. 3.Maintain the daily training journal: minimum five sentences reflecting on what was learned, what was challenging, and how she plans to improve.
  4. 4.Address the Trainer as "Trainer" or "Sir" during all training interactions.
  5. 5.Practise assigned positions for a minimum of ten minutes daily, logging time and quality in the journal.
  6. 6.Complete all homework assignments by the stated deadline. Late submissions require an explanation and result in a schedule adjustment.
  7. 7.Ask at least one question per session. Curiosity is a training requirement.
  8. 8.Treat all training materials, protocols, and curricula as confidential.
  9. 9.Maintain personal health and rest: training is physically and emotionally demanding and requires a well-rested, nourished trainee.
  10. 10.Participate fully in all evaluations, including honest self-assessment.

7.Training Curriculum

Evaluation criteria

Levels:

Graduation conditions

Minimum Skill Level: All Foundation Phase skills must be rated at Competent (Level 4) or above. Intermediate and Advanced skills must be rated at Developing (Level 3) or above. Trainer Assessment: The Trainer provides a written assessment confirming the trainee's readiness for independent practice or a partnered dynamic. Mutual Agreement: Both parties agree that the training goals have been met or that the trainee has progressed as far as this training relationship can take her. Graduation Ceremony: A simple ceremony marks the completion: the Trainer presents a certificate or symbolic token, speaks to the trainee's growth, and formally releases her from the training dynamic.

8.Punishments & Consequences

  • Repetition of the failed skill or protocol until performed correctly. Constructive, not punitive.
  • Additional practice time assigned for the skill area in question.
  • Written reflection on the specific skill gap and a self-directed improvement plan.
  • Temporary step-back to a previous phase skill for reinforcement before progressing.
  • A formal conversation about commitment and expectations if patterns of non-compliance emerge.
  • NOTE: Punishments in a training context are educational, not recreational. Physical punishment is not part of the standard training programme unless the trainee has requested exposure to discipline as a training module and it has been separately negotiated.

9.Rewards

  • Verbal recognition of progress: specific, genuine praise for skills demonstrated.
  • Advancement to the next training phase. The most meaningful reward is progression itself.
  • A written progress report highlighting strengths and growth.
  • A "free session" where the trainee chooses the topic or skill she most wants to explore.
  • A formal letter of recommendation (for kink-community purposes) upon successful graduation.
  • A graduation ceremony (simple or elaborate, as mutually preferred) marking the completion of training.
  • An invitation to the post-training advisory network if the Trainer maintains one.

10.Aftercare

Physical

After physically demanding training (positions, endurance, pain processing): stretching, water, snack, rest, and attention to any muscle strain or joint stress.

Emotional

After emotionally intense sessions (vulnerability exercises, protocol challenges, evaluation): verbal reassurance, space to process feelings, and explicit separation of performance feedback from personal worth. The trainee is reminded that training is a process, not a verdict.

Check-in schedule

Brief debrief after every session. Weekly progress check-in (combined with the next session's opening). Phase transition reviews at Weeks 4 and 8. Final evaluation and closure at Week 12.

11.Privacy & Confidentiality

Confidentiality

The training relationship is confidential. Neither party discloses the other's participation without mutual consent. Training records are shared only between the parties.

Media policy

No recordings of training sessions without mutual advance consent. Written evaluations and progress reports are the trainee's property.

Anti-outing

Neither party reveals the other's involvement in BDSM training or kink. Permanent obligation.

12.Termination

Either party may end training at any time. Early termination does not carry stigma; not every training relationship is the right fit. Upon termination: all sessions cease; the trainee receives a written summary of skills completed to date; training materials are returned or retained as agreed; confidentiality clauses remain permanent. The Trainer may offer a partial advisory period at their discretion.
